Every student deserves to learn in a school with safe, updated facilities. Measure U will help repair and modernize Dixon’s elementary, middle, and high schools so our students have the classrooms, labs, technology, and facilities they need to succeed.
Why Measure U is Needed
Many of Dixon’s schools were built 60 to 70 years ago, and aging infrastructure is showing its age. Underground pipes and other systems are failing, resulting in water leaks, gas leaks, sewage backups, and ongoing repairs.

Our schools also have 61 portable classrooms that are more than 20 years old, many with structural damage and water leaks. Continuing to repair aging facilities takes resources that could otherwise support our schools and students.
Repair aging infrastructure
Deteriorating roofs, plumbing, gas and sewer lines, and electrical systems.
Remove hazardous materials
Safe removal of asbestos and lead pipes from aging school facilities.
Improve safety and accessibility
Bring older schools up to current health and building safety codes and improve access for students with disabilities.
What Measure U Will Do
Investing in Safe, Modern Schools.

Measure U would provide locally controlled funding to:
Upgrade heating and cooling
Replace aging HVAC and ventilation systems that are at least 20 years old and failing.
Replace aging portable classrooms
Addressing deteriorating facilities that are increasingly expensive to maintain.
Prepare students for college and careers
Modernize labs, technology, and equipment for sciences, engineering, and skilled trades.
Taxpayer Accountability
Local Funding. Strong Accountability.
Measure U includes taxpayer protections to ensure funds are used as intended:
• 100% of funds stay local for Dixon Unified schools and students.
• The State cannot take the funding away.
• No bond funds can be used for administrator salaries or pensions.
• Independent Citizens’ Oversight and mandatory audits are required to ensure funds are spent properly.
